Reflective Opacity.
Defining Color Opacity on Metal.
The Reflective Opacity method is essential for conducting a comprehensive assessment of color differences, adding a vital visual appearance dimension to the color evaluation process.
Reflective Opacity is an innovative, scientific, multi-spectral method that accurately defines the opacity of any color applied to reflective surfaces, whether conventional or digital. The Reflective Opacity method is a reliable and innovative way to represent color opacity as a percentage. Designs are usually produced combining a wide variety of colors with different opacities (transparent, semi-opaque or opaque). Existing digital printing systems have been failing in delivering accurate and consistent color reproduction mainly due to a different visual appearance when comparing a production can with a digitally printed can.
The Reflective Color Technology includes a set of fully automated color matching algorithms to print accurately spot colors on reflective substrates with all range of opacities. The color data is captured through instrumentation, which is used to optimize and match the conventional inks with a digital printing system or at the time of formulating the conventional ink.
